Coast Guard Half Marathon
The Coast Guard Half Marathon is the first named road race of the Coast Guard. While the 2021 run has moved to a virtual event, we’re excited to already have plans for a hybrid event in the spring of 2022! The exciting thing about a hybrid event is that it allows both virtual and in-person participation. Below is a quick synopsis of next year’s plans and a map of what the race might look like.
Hosted in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, this half marathon will start downtown, then run along our riverfront (by Coast Guard Park and the Sailing Center). After that, runners will loop through the U.S. Coast Guard Base and Air Station and finally return downtown via Elizabeth City State University, a historically black college and the only four-year collegiate aviation education program in North Carolina.
We plan to have a party near the finish line with food, drink, and live music following the race. Runners will receive a Coast Guard Half Marathon t-shirt and there will be finisher medals for all participants. Just like in 2021, all retired and active military members can register with a military discount to show our appreciation!
We’re thrilled to introduce this new USATF (USA Track & Field) certified race in collaboration with the U.S. Coast Guard to both military and non-military participants! It’s going to be a day full of fun and celebration and we hope you’ll come enjoy it with us in our Harbor of Hospitality.
